Troop 635 in Baltimore, Maryland
We are Baltimore City's First Scouting America Troop for Girls!
Troop 635 Uniform Info
- The Baltimore City Scout Shop (701 Wyman Park Drive, Baltimore) is the place to buy a uniform, uniform patches, a Scout book, and much more. The staff are very knowledgeable and will help you get all the patches you need for the uniform - just tell them your scout is a new member of Troop 635, and they will do the rest.
- There is (or was) a "Scouts BSA Handbook for Girls". It's the same as the boys book, but with different photos.
- Class A Uniform
- The full Scout uniform is worn at more formal troop gatherings or occasions like a Court of Honor awards ceremony or a Scoutmaster rank review.
- The required elements are:
- Scout Shirt (we recommend the short sleeve / quick dry shirt)
- Olive green pants/shorts/skort (quick dry is helpful). The Scout shop offers all three types, but official items are not required. REI sells a nice convertible pair of olive pants, with zip-off legs to make shorts).
- Merit badge sash
- Neckerchief (Troop 635 uses a black neckerchief with white edges) and slide.
- Olive socks
- Belt (Scout, high adventure, outdoor sporty, or leather belt).
- See: Scouts BSA Uniform Inspection Sheet.
- Badge Placement:
- See page 22 of the Scout book.
- Refer to this web site: Scout Patch Placement Guide.
- Badge Magic is an adhesive recommended for affixing more permanent patches - as opposed to sewing. These include the American flag and the Troop number. Patches are difficult to remove and adhesive remains. It is available at the Scout Shop. See: Badge Magic Uniform Kit.
- For more temporary patches, loosely sew in place instead of Badge Magic. These include rank, patrol patch, and badge of office.
- Class B Uniform
- The Class B uniform is more relaxed, employing a common Troop 635 shirt or hoodie paired with practical shorts or pants. It is used for activities where the Scout might get dirty such as camping, hiking, or community service - but we still want to identify as a unit.
- Scouts, parents and leaders can show their Scout pride during casual events.
